Install Armbian to internal or external memory, a desktop, 3rd party software, Just a quick note to say thank you to the Developers for all that you do and have done to make our favorite Arm Linux Distro a success! I just want to post a thank you to the developers and contributors who have built one nice distribution. Last night I downloaded and installed Jessie server from Armbian.

What a pleasure. I am so tired of having to build the headers for a kernel so I can compile the out of tree modules I need. Thank you VERY much! My next stop is the donate button. All the Tinkerboard OS's looked to me more like compromise solutions to make the board work, rather than real OS's I could trust. Until I came across Armbian, that appeared to be more like the real Linux distros I was used to in the past. I saw committed people who really knew what they were doing, and it gave me a feeling of reliability.

The new image worked perfectly and I am really impressed. When using the images for Raspbian or Debian, the screen output was very blurry using the converter.

With armbian, it is razor sharp, right from the beginning.By wzorOctober 1, Reading package lists Done Building dependency tree Reading state information Done E: Unable to locate package linux-headers Is there any chance that at some point for every linux-image package release on the armbian repo we can find the corresponding linux-headers package? You can't request to every user to go build their own armbian image in order to get the right headers to compile something.

Honestly it's quite frustrating. Igor could you please push in the armbian repo the latest mvebu-next headers? Why should I solve every problem that pops out?? None of that is available. It is frustrating indeed. I'm not arguing your limited bandwidth. My point is that whenever you trigger you process of uploading the linux-image to the dpkg repo, I would have imagined that it should come along to also upload the linux-headers since it is also part of the build output.

But seems a bit strange that published linux-headers would be built on another machine than the one that build the kernel. Just for the sake of consistency. Is there a piece of script somewhere that you use to automatize the build and publish flow. I mean something that we can help contributing? I am only interested in solving this problem in general - if I find some time.

Until then it's in users domain. You upload them in the same location as they come from the build script and script do the rest. This service is as is. I am not changing MO. On the bottom line it depends on the board family. If in your specific case something does not work well you are always free to try an image with legacy kernel included. Do not use them in a productive environment but your constructive feedback to developers is highly appreciated. All our images are digitally signed and therefore it is possible to check their authenticity. Important note: Make sure you use a good, reliable and fast SD card. Armbian can simply not run on unreliable hardware so checking your SD card with either F3 or H2testw is mandatory if you run in problems.

Images shall only be written with Etcher on all platforms since unlike other tools Etcher validates burning results saving you from corrupted SD card contents.

This is what the speed class is about. At the time of this writing A1 and A2 cards are only widely available from SanDisk. Armbian recommends A1 rated SD-Cards only now A2 rated cards need yet lacking driver support and therefore show lower overall and especially random IO performance.

For example:. Insert SD card into a slot and power the board.

If nothing happens, download GitHub Desktop and try again. If nothing happens, download Xcode and try again.

If nothing happens, download the GitHub extension for Visual Studio and try again. Hosting large image files such as the pre-sync'd version does come with it's costs. If you like the project or found the images helpful any contribution would be gratefully received:. Let me start by saying I'm glad the internet has bought you to here. It's taken several years to get to this point of the project, which in itself has been part of a multi year hobby creating nodes for cryptocurrencies and producing guides for beginners to follow along the way.

The project is in a changing state at the moment with a shift from pre-built disk images, to you the user running a single command to initiate the install from this github repository. The reason for this change is to present the project as open source, increase transparency and trust.

It also gives the added benefit of no longer being tied to the hardware of the device I was building the disk images on. This gives you the user much greater freedom to install your node on any Armbian device of your choice. Whilst this transition to open source finalises I will continue to provide the pre-made and pre-syncd disk images for the Raspberry Pi, but will phase this out over the year.

Also throughout the years I've had many requests from users if they could purchase pre-made nodes and although this is not something my lifestyle can accommodate, it does signal that users too have busy lifestyles, they want a node fast and I hope this project is a reasonable solution to that request. To that end I hope you find this latest project invaluable to running your own Monero node, fast.

The initial sync will take some time, and for that reason I also supply this node pre-sync'd as an image. Security for the device has been configured but every copy of this device currently has the same password as I set it.

It is important you change it to something unique, this is detailed later on in this document. This Manual is still aimed at a low beginner level user including SD formatting and image writing.

After these chapters and node usage you'll find detailed breakdowns of how this node works for those that are interested in contributing. Finally all suggested software used in the setup stages are downloadable for free. Web Terminal: Main System Menu. Connecting a Wallet -LAN. Connecting a wallet - External Connections.

A final point on the hardware. This node is designed to be used 'headless'. The HDMI cable, mouse and keyboard is not required. This should allow you to tuck the node away somewhere and all interactions can be made with a device pc or mobile that is connected to the same network your home one in most cases.

This project can now self install on top of an Armbian Debian OS in an effort to become completely Open Source my disk images require you to trust me. Then I went to a friends boat, 6 Mb before Download Zip froze then errored out in Firefox where I don't see the message. Is there any other place to download a zip file of linux sun8i that is more resilient to dropped packets and congested network? I finally succeeded!. I did the git clone to a friend's system in Seattle. Then did an scp back to the Philippines. It worked. The compile has no errors. Github still does not like the local network, but it can succeed in a pull, if not much has changed.

Thanks, Can you expand on the additional tuning options available with SSH? I'm not too good with that. I would have particularly liked an option to 'not erase everything' on failure. Once it managed out of MB and several times as much as 20Mb. If it hadn't erased each try I would have been done a couple days earlier. You can post now and register later. May 8, I have been trying to compile a legacy kernel for Orange Pi PC for 48 hours. Then I tried each of these via the cell phone network my phone as a hotspot.

Is there a way to break up the repo into smaller pieces that I might eventually get downloaded? Maybe a torrent? Is there a problem with github.
. May 9, Thanks for letting me rant.
